Which camera lens is better. Leica or Zeiss lens?

I am just looking for some information on which lens is better. All I need is an overall reason. Or just give me some reasons why one is better then the other.

  • Shorty:

They both make superb lenses. Neither is better than the other.

  • Clevercloggs:

they are both good. If you were using them on 1930′s to 1950′s film cameras they you’d use zeiss on zeiss cameras and leica on leica cameras. The lenses are now made by foreign manufacturers under licence. I dont expect a leica lens on a digital camera will be of comparable quality as the lens on a new model film leica

be more interested in what the camera does rather than the name of the lens.

  • Mere Mortal:

    Depends on the format.

Zeiss medium format lenses are superior to just about everything in their class. In the 35mm miniature format I personally think that Leica is just a bit “better” than Zeiss.
