Sigma DP2 Camera Review: Boing Boing Gadgets

Joel Johnson writes about at Boing Boing Gadgets: Really should you get the Sigma DP2? Only if you are in enjoy with the sensor. Whilst it is undoubtedly a better alternative than its predecessor and is not without its manual charms, its substantial cost puts it in range of DSLRs and other cameras that come devoid of as several limitations. Seeking by way of a glass viewfinder is these a treat, though—too bad it does not seem to truly line up really properly with the actual photographs. Join the discussion on this video clip around at Boing Boing Devices, where Joel has also uploaded a slideshow of unretouched photographs from the DP2! devices.boingboing.net

Lost Photographs From Sigma Dp2 Camera

Sigma DP2 is one of the most powerful compact digital camera released by Sigma Corporation. The camera features 14 mega pixel camera, 24.2 mm F2.8 lens, photo pro software, and three metering and four exposure modes. The camera supports three types of memory cards, including SD (Secure Digital), SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity), and MMC (MultiMediaCard). These three storage devices save photographs, audios, and videos in the form of digital data. This digital data saved in any of the above memory cards becomes inaccessible, if the card gets corrupted. To access the digital data post memory card corruption, the user needs to restore a copy of all the files from an updated backup. However, if a backup copy of data is not available or is corrupted, then you need to use advanced Photo Recovery Software.

Consider a practical case, where your SDHC memory card gets corrupted due to improper shutdown of the camera. When you attempt to access the files saved in the SDHC card, you are unable to do so. The below error message stops you from accessing the data:

“Incompatible file system. Format Card”

Corruption in card primarily occurs when you turn off the camera while the ‘busy lamp’ is on. In such cases, the camera is still accessing (performing read/write operations) the card.

To prevent the memory card corruption due to any such instance, you should:

Never remove the card when the ‘busy lamp’ is on.

Never remove the battery while the ‘busy lamp’ is on.

Never apply vibrations when the ‘busy lamp’ is on.

However, if the card has become corrupted due to any of the above reasons, and you are not able to access the files in the card, then you need to format the card in the camera. However, to recover the formatted data, you need to use an advanced Digital Photo Recovery Software. Such Photo Recovery tools recover formatted data from all kinds of memory cards, including SDHC memory card.

Stellar Phoenix Photo Recovery is a powerful application to recoup lost, deleted, and formatted data from any digital storage media. Compatible with both Mac OS X and Windows OS, the Photo Recovery utility can be used by any photographer, whether a novice or a professional. To analyze the functionalities of the software and to preview the lost files, you can download its demo version.

How To Recover Photos From Sigma Sd14 Camera

Sigma SD 14 provides photographers the pleasure of expressing a real essence of photography. The digital camera comes with an intuitive user-interface, 2.5 TFT screen, mirror lock-up, 5-point DM Autofocus, and a memory card slot that supports Compact Flash (CF) memory card. The card saves the pictures in RAW or JPEG file format.

These pictures saved in the CF card can be accessed at any point-of-time, except when the memory card is corrupted. Corruption in memory card can occur due to various logical and physical factors. To access the pictures in such cases, an easy way is to restore it from an updated backup. However, with high probabilities of backup file itself getting corrupted, it is always safer to have a advanced Photo Recovery Software near you.

Consider a practical case, where your pictures saved in the CF memory card (inserted in Sigma SD14 camera) become inaccessible after any of the below error messages appear on the LCD screen:

Incompatible file system. Format Card.

Or

Error writing to CF card

After any of the above error message appear, you are not able to either view your previously saved pictures orcapture any picture.

Cause:

CF memory card corruption. Corruption primarily occurs due to virus infection, interrupted read/write operation, and improper handling of the camera.

Resolution:

As suggested in the user-manual of the Sigma SD 14 camera, you need to format the memory card in the camera. The process of formatting resolves both the error messages and brings the card in re-usable state. However, all the previously saved data in the CF memory card gets deleted after formatting. For recovering all the lost data post formatting, you need to search for an effective Photo Recovery Software.

A Photo Recovery tool scans the CF memory card using powerful recovery mechanisms, which are competent enough to recover deleted photos even after formatting. The software is completely non-destructive, as the original data in the card remains intact when the recovery process is performed.

Stellar Phoenix Photo Recovery is one of most purchased Photo Recovery application, world-wide. The Software not only recovers data from formatted memory cards, but from other storage media (hard disks, memory sticks, etc.) as well. Separate versions designed for both Windows and Mac OS X (mac photo recovery) operating system.

“Incompatible File System” Error In Sigma Sd 14 Camera

Sigma SD14 is a digital SLR (Single-Lens Reflex) camera that captures high definition images using a 14 mega pixel digital image sensor. The light-weight camera features a 2.5 in. LCD monitor, focal plane shutter, built-in flash mechanism, and memory card slot compatible with CF (Compact Flash) memory card. While a CF memory card is a safe medium for saving different file types, the probability of the card getting corrupted still persists. Two main problems caused by CF card damage are – inaccessibility of old files and inability to store new files. To overcome the first problem, the user needs to restore data from an updated backup. To resolve the second issue, the photographer needs to format the card. However, recovery of lost photos post formatting the CF memory card is possible using an advanced third-party Photo Recovery application.

To explain the above case, view the below error message that appears on your Sigma SD 14 camera after the CF card gets corrupted:

“Incompatible File System. Format Card “

After the above error message pops up, the data saved in the CF memory card becomes inaccessible. Few main reasons behind the corruption of CF memory card are unexpected camera shutdown (due to empty battery), fatal virus infection, and file system damage.

As suggested in the error message, you need to format the CF memory card in the Sigma SD14 camera. Formatting should only be performed on the camera and not on the computer. While the solution mentioned in the error message is 100% accurate, it also has a disadvantage of deleting all the files saved in the CF memory card. For recovering the formatted files, you need to search for an effective Digital Photo Recovery Software.

A Photo Recovery tool is a powerful application that recoups data from a CF memory card even after formatting. The self-explanatory tool requires no technical knowledge to perform recovery. Whats more, the tool is totally non-destructive.

Stellar Phoenix Photo Recovery is trusted by all the photographers. The Digital Photo Recovery Software recovers data from any formatted, corrupted, and damaged memory card. In addition, the tool allows you to restore the recovered audio, video, and photos at requisite location. With recovery of almost all file types, the software has two versions supporting recovery on both Mac OS X and Windows OS.

Older Sigma 70-210mm APO f2.8 won’t stop down on my digital camera, lens too old, what to do?

Is there a way to take the lens apart and set it at f4, then use it on a digital Canon camera? The lens is an older model Sigma APO and won’t change stops on the newer digital cameras. Was designed for film cameras.
