2007 was the year of the 5 megapixel mobile phone, without a doubt. But times move on, and as we head towards Christmas, it seems appropriate that 2008 is the year of mobile phones with EIGHT megapixel cameras. Of the first two announced, one from Sony Ericsson, one from Samsung, which one is the best? Which should you spend your money on?
Sony Ericsson C905 – packed with Cyber-Shot goodness
First out the trap is the first mobile phone with an 8 megapixel camera to be announced in the UK, the Cyber-Shot powered Sony Ericsson C905. And let’s be honest, as mobile phones go, it’s a beauty! Ok, granted, it’s always going to be remembered best for its camera (more on that in a minute), but there’s a lot more to love in this superb mobile phone from Sony Ericsson. It’s got HSDPA and WiFi, it’s got a fantastic media player (nicked from… sorry, inspired by… the Sony PSP), and it has GPS. It’s also got a gorgeous sliding form factor, making the Sony Ericsson C905, as far as I’m concerned, one of the best looking camera-equipped mobile phones I’ve seen in a very long time.
And then, there’s the camera, and dear lord what a camera the Sony Ericsson C905 has! Coming in at a whopping great 8 megapixels, it’s also got the xenon flash, the autofocus, the image stabiliser, the low-light modes, and all the other good stuff you expect from Cyber-Shot mobile phones. Having seen some demo photos from a prototype Sony Ericsson C905 (get them Googled, you know you want to), I can honestly say the camera surpasses absolutely anything I’ve ever seen on any mobile phones ever.
However…
…the Sony Ericsson hasn’t got it all its own way, because there’s another 8 megapixel mobile phone on the market, and this one is even more advanced (plus, it’s already on sale, neatly getting a heads up on the Sony Ericsson). It’s the shiny, the sexy, the powerful, Samsung i8510 INNOV8.

Sticking a great big fly firmly in Sony Ericsson’s ointment is the i8510 INNOV8 from Samsung, a mobile phone that takes the concept of having an 8 megapixel camera, and puts it in a top-end smartphone. And that means it’s a proper fully fledged smartphone, will let you download and install your own software, and is generally far cleverer than the Sony Ericsson. The only thing going against the Samsung is its size, since it’s also smartphone-sized (i.e. big). What it all comes down to, then, is what you want from whichever of the mobile phones you go for. Do you want a brilliant camera, in a mobile phone that may not be a top-end smartphone, but is nice looking, and easy to use? Then go for the Sony Ericsson C905. However, if you want the absolute most powerful 8 megapixel camera phone currently available (and if you want it before the Sony Ericsson is released, of course), then get yourself the Samsung.

Camera phones have been getting steadily more and more powerful, as time has moved on. But which is the best one currently on the market? Let’s find out!
Sony Ericsson Satio
There’s no doubting the sheer power of the Sony Ericsson Satio. First and foremost on its list of awesome features is its key selling point: the Sony Ericsson Satio is the first phone announced for the UK to have a 12 megapixel camera. It also features technology culled from the Cyber-Shot range of phones, so, quite simply, the Sony Ericsson Satio is the single best camera phone in existence. However, it also has true smartphone credentials, as it features the new Symbian S60 Touch OS, giving it a sleek interface, bags of power, and the option to add on loads of third party software. It is, frankly, an astounding phone!
Samsung Pixon 12
Here we have another touchscreen mobile phone, the Samsung Pixon 12, and, to be brutally honest… because it’s not a smartphone, it doesn’t come off as well as the Sony Ericsson Satio. However, it has a huge touchscreen, a brilliant 8 megapixel camera, multimedia player, HSDPA, and GPS. Oh, and since this is one of the biggest buying factors nowadays, the Samsung Pixon 12 is ALSO one of the best looking mobile phones on the market. However, unlike the Satio, the Samsung Pixon 12 very definitely isn’t a smartphone, so the Sony Ericsson Satio wins this fight.
Samsung i8910 HD
The Samsung Pixon 12 is undoubtedly a superb camera phone, but it’s not a smartphone. So, of the first two on this list, the Sony Ericsson Satio takes the crown for being the most powerful. The Samsung i8910 HD, though, has one big advantage over the other two (despite having a less impressive stills camera). Whilst it has an 8 megapixel camera, the Samsung i8910 HD is also the first phone to record true 720p HD video. Never before has a phone been able to capture video at that massive high resolution, and coincidentally (or is it coincidence? Maybe not…), the Samsung i8910 HD captures high-def video at the exact quality that Youtube display high-def videos at. It’s very possible that the Samsung i8910 HD was designed with its main feature being the ability to get yourself on Youtube, in high-definition. Combine that with the sumptuous 3.7 inch screen, and a huge 8Gb of internal memory, and it’s very clear that the Samsung i8910 HD, just like the other two on this list, deserves its place as one of the phones of the year!

Umm, i did the camera codes that are said. And when i open my camera to obviously take photo’s it wont let me. It says ‘Camera Failed’. Is there a way of fixing this? Like a rollback or something? To what it was before?

After appling the secret camera code in your Samsung F480 , now you are not able to take the pics from this mobile phone. you are getting the ‘Camera Failed’ error. I think you can solve this problem using two methods. But i am not sure that the first method will work or not but i can guarranty that the second method will resolve all the problems of your mobile phone. The first thing that you can do is restore the mobile to the factory settings. For this go to the sttings of your mobile phone and run this process. Enter the Default mobile password if you have not changed or enter the changed password. The second thiag that you can do if the first method does not works. You should Flash the operating system and install the frash copy of the opearting system in your mobile phone. This can only be done at the Mobile repaire shop. It is better to contact the Samsung service center.

With the dozens of brands of mobile phones available in the market today, how can you actually select the best one from the lot? Basically, you need to check on the online reviews and browse through the pictures to have a feel of the form factor of the phone that you want to have.
You also need to determine which features are more important for you. Are you leaning more towards a phone which plays hours of music with all the other standard features? Would you rather have an average music phone with a really excellent digital camera? Or do you want something which has a little bit of both – with a lot of other features thrown in for good measure?
Samsung G810: An Introduction
The Samsung G810 mobile phone was first released in April of 2008.
Before delving deeper into the details of the features, here is a quick list of the specifications of the Samsung G810 mobile phone:
- 2.6 inch, 240×320 pixel colored LCD screen
- Symbian operating system with S60 user interface
- Wi-Fi capabilities
- Global Positioning System, built-in
- 5-Megapixel camera with auto focus, optical zoom and Xenon flash
- Bluetooth and USB connectivity
- TV-out functionality
- 3.5 mm stereo audio jack
The first thing that you will notice about the Samsung G810 is the beauty of its design. The slider mobile phone is larger than the average phone in the market. If you can overlook the size, however, the Samsung G810 has a good design and a shiny silver colour.
The downside of the display itself is that you cannot clearly see the display under bright conditions.
A Really Good, Not-so-Flashy Camera Phone
Being a relatively new player in the market, you would have to rely on the Samsung G810 review posted online to know whether the handset is any good or not.
It is actually a very good camera phone. When you check out the back of the handset, the Samsung G810 looks like a standalone digital camera. When you add to that the specifications of having a 5-Megapixel camera, 3x zoom and a Xenon flash – you can point and shoot away using this mobile phone.
However, the Xenon flash is not really that remarkable at all. One more thing, the optical zoom feature – which is supposed to zoom thrice the size of the image – reduces the image quality quite noticeably.
A Samsung G810 Review of the Other Features
The other noticeable feature about the Samsung G810 is the Global Positioning System navigation. You can easily connect to the Internet to use Google search and Gmail. In addition, it has a multiformat audio and video support.
All these features come in one power-packed, gleaming silver package. Apparently, the Samsung G810 was made as a rival for Nokia’s N95 and N96 models. The Samsung G810 gives the competition a run for their money – although the image quality is just slightly inferior.
All in all, if you are looking for an excellent camera phone which runs the Symbian operating system, the Samsung G810 is the mobile phone suited for you.
