if you don't practice self-control and restraint, it can be.

newbie lang ako pero ang pagkaalam ko slr which means single lens reflex is a camera that's has a single lens from the viewfinder to the lens itself. it uses mirror mechanism to achieve it. in short, yung nakikita mo sa viewfinder is the actual image produced by the lens itself.

point and shoot or rangefinder cameras have separate lens for the viewfinder and the lens. in short what you see in the viewfinder is not the image produced by the lens. so it suffers from parallax viewpoint.

interchangeable lenses is not a factor in determining if a camera is DSLR or not. as far as i know meron mga rangefinders na napapalitan ang lens like yung mga old leica, mamiya and hanimex cameras. also, available na din ang mga add-ons sa PS cameras like tele and wide converters.

Its definitely going to be expensive if you let it become expensive. If you're the type of person who's easily contented with what you have then its not going to be expensive

Greetings, Kamrades!

I agree with the posts above (and similar ones) so that means it's not expensive for me, heheh.

I don't see why its going to be expensive for my purpose. More than two years has passed since I bought my D40 and its still the same old DSLR I am happily using and I am not planning on upgrading it; not the lens, not the body, not the filters, not anything.

Dang, I look at my cameras (2 film SLRs + 1 DSLR) and I realized I have more than I need!

On the other hand, if you can afford it, why not? Expense is relative.

It depends how serious or gifted you are... you can take amazing shots with a simple point and shoot camera if you know how to frame it well check out this site, they have a lot of nice affordable cameras!
