Wireless image transfer has been gaining interest and popularity by leaps and bounds in the past year. At CES earlier this month, we reported on several manufacturers who are looking to get in to the built-in wireless transfer game, allowing users to send photos straight from their cameras to their computers or web-based photo sharing services. In the aftermarket, however, the Eye-Fi Wireless SD Card promises similar functionality for any camera that shoots JPEGs and supports SD memory - allowing shooters to transfer their images instantaneously from camera to computer or web over their home Wi-Fi network.

The Nikon Coolpix S210, S520, S550, and S600 will all be joining the company’s Style series of compacts, according to an announcement this evening. Three new cameras and a replacement broaden the range of offerings in Nikon’s S line, which offers solid features, imposing styling, and impressive image quality, but has yet to really vie for dominance with the strongest competitors in the ultra-compact market. All four new models bring more advanced features to the table, including large, sharp LCDs, improved high ISO performance, Nikkor optics, and in several cases, Optical Vibration Reduction.

Coming on the heels of Pentax’s K20D announcement and in light of a pre-release leak on a Norwegian website several weeks ago, Samsung’s release of their latest GX-20 14.6 megapixel DSLR yesterday is hardly breaking news. As with its technological twin, the GX-20 is a 14.6 megapixel camera with a Samsung-manufactured CMOS sensor, a live view system, and weather/dust sealing.

Building on the basic concept introduced by the Coolpix P50, the 8.1 megapixel Nikon Coolpix P60 offers a fully manual control experience in a compact digicam. A 5x Nikkor zoom with Vibration Reduction optical image stabilization, a large, bright 2.7-inch LCD in addition to an electronic viewfinder, and Nikon EXPEED processing for noise reduction make the P60 seem like an another attractive option for advanced amateurs, or as an economical DSLR backup.

The Coolpix L18 is an 8 megapixel point-and-shoot in the stylistic and technological tradition of other L-series models. Key features and specs include a 3x zoom, an upsized 3-inch LCD, and Anti-shake AE image stabilization.
