Images of Pentax’s K200D DSLR surface? (Digital Photography News)

Just over a month ago, we got word that Pentax could be readying a pair of new DSLRs, and now it seems that we’ve been blessed with a plethora of shots of the K200D. ‘Course, we suppose they could be doctored, but we just don’t believe someone would spend that much time working up Pentax fakes, ya know? Regardless, feel free to hit the read link and check out what’s probably the outfit’s next shooter — or some mighty fine ’shops, worst case scenario.

  • Camera Tips and Tricks – How To : Convert to a Model Look

Ever wanted to convert a holiday snap or stunning foreign vista into a picture that looks like a model? No me neither. But in case you hanker after model railway shots or have an odd hour to fill you too can play with photoshop to create just that type of image.

Receding Hairline: the website of a London Wannabe supplied all the instructions and tips on how to go about just such a task. It seems you need Photoshop CS or newer (I haven’t tried this out myself so can’t comment). Just three steps are required – gradient mask, lens blur, and adjust curves. And thats it! Selecting the right photography is important though as Receding Hairline explains.

Nikon D60 gets rumored, set to replace the D40x? (Digital Photography News)

Ready for another go on the Nikon rumor carousel? Apparently, the mythical D60 could be next in line to replace the D40x (pictured), but of course, all of this should be taken with a copious amount of salt for the time being. Based on rumors suggesting that the D60 is coming next Spring (by the same fellow who called the D3, purportedly), combined with reports that the D40x is at the end of its own rope, we’re left to believe that Nikon may be swapping the latter out and replacing it with the prior. Hit the links below for the beginning of what’s sure to be a long road to denial / confirmation.

Polaroid unveils 7-inch XSJ-00750M digital photo frame (Digital Photography News)

    , Displays

Just as soon as Digital Foci introduced a trio of digital photo frames, along comes Polaroid with a 7-incher of its own. The XSJ-00750M rocks a 480 x 234 widescreen panel, 400:1 contrast ratio, 250 cd/m2 brightness, USB 2.0 connectivity and a multicard reader that handles SD, MMC, CF, MS, MSPro and MSDuo. Aside from sifting through your JPEG collection, it also plays back MP3 files, and just in case you’ve got a thing for varying colors, you’ll be delighted to know that this one comes with black, white and wood colored frames. Grab one next month (if you’re in Japan, that is) for 17,000 ($149).

Olympus Stylus 830 Review (Digital Camera Review)

has all the right things: 8 megapixels of resolution, a 5x zoom, image stabilization, and solid construction. But the 830’s failure to deliver better than average photographic results has potentially destined it for anonymity in the middle of a crowded compact field.

Camera Tips and Tricks – Hack: Disposable to Reuseable

, How-to’sI have little exposure to disposable cameras; so the brands RitzCamera, CVS and Walgreens mean absolutely nothing. Apparently though you can take these cheapy little fillies and dispose of the disposable moniker and make them reusable.

TopTenDigitalCamera supplies all the details – from which connections to make through to where to download the software to turn “a disposable 10 dollar digital camera from RitzCamera, CVS, or Walgreens into one you can use over and over, just like a normal digital camera”. I just wonder though if all the trouble is actually worthwhile. The images, such as the one to the right, seem reasonable enough though.

Panasonic, Hitachi and Canon make billion-dollar LCD deal official (Digital Photography News)

, HDTV, Home EntertainmentNo longer a rumor, Hitachi, Matsushita (Panasonic) and Canon are joining forces to shake up the LCD biz. Panasonic and Canon have each agreed to take 24.9% ownership of Hitachi Displays, which will use the investment to continue its advancement in LCD technology. Canon gets access to Hitachi’s small- to medium-sized LCDs and, OLEDs for its cameras and other products, while Panasonic looks to “enhance the competitive edge in-step with PDP models” of its Viera line of HDTVs with Hitachi’s IPS (In-Plane Switching) technology and future OLED production. Don’t think Panasonic and Hitachi are giving up on the Plasma Coalition, but they aren’t afraid to hedge their bets in reaction to the market’s demand for cheap LCDs and similar partnerships among competitors.

The Pentax Optio S10 won’t quite fit in an Altoids tin like the original Optio S did, but it’s still very compact and stylish. It’s a 10 megapixel camera, with a nice 2.5 inch LCD and a 3x optical zoom. It also gets the latest “soft” features, like face detection AF and AE. The S10’s feature set is essentially about as advanced as you get with an auto-exposure only digital camera – with plenty of options for metering, focus, white balance, etc. However, you won’t find image stabilization. Read on for our full review of the S10.
