Canon produces 30-millionth EF lens

TOKYO, January 19, 2006 — Canon Inc. today announced the achievement of a new lens-production milestone as production of the company’s EF lenses passed the 30-million mark.
Production of interchangeable EF lenses for Canon EOS-series AF (autofocus) SLR cameras began in 1987 at the company’s Utsunomiya Plant. Canon produced its 10-millionth EF lens in August 1995, its 20-millionth in February 2001 and, a mere five years later, has now reached the 30-million plateau. This achievement reflects users’ high level of satisfaction with the performance and quality realized by EF lenses, as well as the service offered through Canon’s marketing operations.
Evolt E-330 new digital SLR camera by Olympus

Recently, Olympus introduced its new SLR camera Evolt E-330 with ZUIKO Digital (14-45 mm F3.5-5.6) lens.


The peculiar thing about the E-330 is two photo sensors and LCD screens. One sensor is in reflector system and has a 5-megapixe1/2.5” resolution, it allows displaying “live” picture and adjust sharpness level and aperture more accurately.
The other is the main 7.5-megapixel LiveMOS 4/3” sensor.
The camera is equipped with a rotating 2.5” TFT LCD and supports СА and xD memory cards. Dimensions are 140×72x87 mm and weight – 550 g.

The Pentax *ist DSL

Pentax recently launched the lightest DSLR on the market today: the *ist DL. The Pentax *ist DL is an entry-level digital SLR camera that targets audiences who are just beginning to take up photography as a hobby or profession. While this 6 megapixel camera has simplicity in operations, it is versatile enough to please even seasoned/professional SLR users.
The camera has a number of great semi-automatic and manual features as well as overrides to give the user full control.
This $700 camera has a lightweight, ultra-compact body with a rugged finish. Compared to the Nikon D50, this DSLR is a featherweight. The camera even has a depth of field preview that is normally found only on higher-priced DSLRs.

Dpi and Ppi
When you make a print of one of your photos on an inkjet printer, a lot is happening inside the printer. Inkjet printers work by spraying ink dots of cyan, magenta, yellow and black from nozzles while they pass over the paper. Most inkjet printers have a print resolution of 1440dpi and some printers go as high as 5760dpi. In general, the higher the resolution of your printer the greater detail you can print and the better your photo will look.
